Description:
The Samadhi Hermitage Meditation Caves Retreat Center is located a half-hour drive south of Santa Fe, in the mountainous-desert foothills of northern New Mexico. Two Meditation Caves provide superb opportunity for un-disturbed, silent meditation retreat. The caves are not austere. They are designed for "an inspired retreat" in superb stillness, silence, & solitude. Built into the hillside, they are a 12-ft. diameter stone octagon, with 6 ft. high walls, sink & electricity, sloping-ceiling, and small (closable) skylight overhead! Treat yourself with undisturbed Yoga, meditation and refreshment-of-life, just like a monk, sadhu, Himalayan yogi, etc.
A spiritual retreat, in a meditation cave, is a true "life-affecting departure" from the norms of one's material and physical world! Some people are so ready for this shift, this departure, that there truly is … "No going back!".
Tapasyalaya [Sanskrit] means "a place of spiritual retreat for yoga and meditation". The Samadhi Hermitage Meditation Caves provide such an opportunity for un-disturbed, silent meditation retreat. A Meditation Cave is the womb of Mother Earth. When we go outside for any reason, there can be a wonderful sensation of re-birth, newness, of "being a visitor" to the external world. Dwelling in our inner self, as in a meditation-cave, becomes a very viable sensation when we step out of the cave.
Fruit trees and garden beds are interspersed with areas for sitting, walking, meditation & yoga. We enjoy sanctity, serenity, natural beauty, healthy food ... and mindfulness (the cactus). A flagstone yoga deck is tucked among a giant cactus outside the Samadhi Cave. Behind us ... a beautiful secluded canyon for walks, sitting, and another unique meditation retreat.
Throughout history, sages, saints, and yogis have gone to the mountains, caves and deserts for meditation, yoga & retreat. The environment here is "High-elevation Desert" -- in northern New Mexico. Surrounded by mountains, the climate is superb -- mostly moderate in all seasons -- clean air, stillness, & plenty of sunshine! We experience an incredible sense of personal expansion due to the beauty and the expansive vistas. One truly expands as far as they can see, and the Milky way here is absolutely awesome in our pristine clear skies!
