We specialize in Natural Communion Experiences, i.e. working with "the intelligence of the heart, in the direct perception of nature", using many vehicles including River Floats, Vision Quests, Sweat Lodges and Natural Communion Classes. The "Power of Now" is practiced using Nature as a gateway into Now and our own true Nature of Being. We deepen our capacity for remaining in the Now through personal transformation work that is informed by the Pathwork™ of Self Transformation.
Custom retreats are Individually tailored and are very useful in supporting life transistions, spiritual emergence, and healing at the soul level. Stress Relief Retreats are another House Speciality

We help you create a sacred space to center your life, connect with the Divine and renew your creativity. Individuals and small groups are invited to be our guests. We can provide assistance and guidance as you take time for soul care, or simply give you sacred space to design your own experience.
Since the early 1980s our founders, Lainie and Daniel Allen, have provided spiritual guidance and coaching to help others bring focus to their lives and nurture to their souls so they can live God’s call. Valuing an ecumenical Christian tradition, The Allens honor each individual’s spiritual path and welcome anyone seeking to nurture their soul.
An experienced spiritual director, Lainie helps others nurture their souls by providing spiritual guidance and facilitating prayer, meditation, reflection and other soul care experiences. A leadership coach, Daniel helps leaders give voice to their vision.
We offer classes, workshops, quiet days and evenings, personalized or small group guidance, prayer retreats and just a place for all to step away from the pace of life and nurture their soul.
To nurture one’s soul is to become more aware of God and to respond to that awareness with mindfulness and attention. It is opening oneself to His love and peace, and finding rest. Wisdom says time “away” is needed. Jesus emphasized this need when He said to His disciples, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”
Canterbury Retreat House provides a space for you to step away, to slow down, and to reacquaint yourself with God’s voice and heart.
