Highlands offers a wealth of program and lodging options for adults, youth, and children alike at our versatile 285 acre camp and retreat center. Participate in one of Highlands' organized camps or design your own program. Let our staff assist you in planning your next family reunion, meeting, wedding, retreat or educational event. In addition, take advantage of recreational offerings that are unique to our mountain setting. We also serve many other denominations and not-for-profit groups.

Retreat Center - Completed in August 2002, the 24-bedroom, 105-bed retreat center offers accommodations for our adult guests. Each room comfortably accommodates guests primarily in full-length twin beds, with some queen-sized Murphy beds and Flex-Steel sofa sleepers available.

Meeting Spaces - Our newest building provides a spacious dining hall that can be partitioned into 3 meeting rooms, each with a built-in sound system, numerous configuration options, and panoramic views of Mount Meeker and nearby peaks.
Activities - Majestic mountain views, tranquil aspen groves, wild animals in their native habitat, starry skies, and vibrant sunrises and sunsets are only a part of the Highlands experience. Located at the foot of Mt. Meeker, our 285 acre site includes a great variety of streams, ridges, meadows, rock outcroppings, aspen groves, and pine forests.

Since 1971, we have been offering a wide variety of courses in Buddhist meditation, yoga, contemplative arts and outdoor adventures. Featured on the land is The Great Stupa, celebrated as one of the most significant examples of sacred Buddhist architecture in the world.
|
|
Shambhala Mountain Center offers a rich variety of meditation and yoga retreats. At our pristine mountain sanctuary, you can learn to meditate, deepen your existing meditation practice, discover the Shambhala Path or receive in-depth training and instruction in Tibetan Buddhist teachings. We also offer programs that bring a contemplative approach to body-based practices (e.g., yoga, tai chi), art and education, family life, death and dying, and social engagement. You can also experience the magic of Shambhala in our outdoor adventure programs.

There are two luxurious lodges located in the "downtown" area of Shambhala Mountain Center, the Shambhala Lodge, which was completed in 2000, and the Rigden Lodge, which was completed in June 2006.
We offer both single rooms and double rooms with queen size beds, private or shared bathrooms and walk-in closets.
Comfortable platform tents are also available for accommodation from June-September.

| Our campus is available as a rental facility for conferences and private group retreats. Our three unique program areas can be rented separately for a private retreat or jointly for a large conference. During the summer months, Shambhala Mountain Center can comfortably house up to 500 participants with the use of our platform tents, and in the fall, winter and spring, up to 150 guests. |

The Sophia Peace Center has 18 overnight rooms (double & triple occupancy) with private bathrooms, ample space and beautiful views. Our stunning and spacious executive suite comes with a Jacuzzi and large private balcony. We also offer newly remodeled cottages, for individuals, small groups or families, in walking distance to some of the best hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing trails in the San Juan National Forest. |

We can accommodate 50-60 overnight guests.
Our vaulted aspen ceiling Grand Room can hold up to 100 guests. We offer breakout rooms, yoga & mediation rooms in addition to the Grand Room. Both on-site massage and full day spa packages are available.
With the new addition of our beautiful labyrinth, outdoor pavilion and Peace Path, we are continually expanding our vision of what we can provide our guests. |

Close by are the Anasazi ruins of Mesa Verde, golfing and McPhee Lake. The surrounding area is known for its exceptional fly-fishing, mountain biking, rock-climbing, skiing and hot springs.

 Our conference and retreat center hosts groups from 12 to 120 in a variety of meeting spaces and accommodations.
- Delicious, wholesome meals are prepared with local, organic ingredients as much as possible and many of our vegetables and grass-fed beef come from the Farm at Sunrise Ranch.
 Accommodations are available just a one or two minute walk from meeting rooms, dining and the hiking trails. From three bedroom suites, to single, double and triple rooms, we take great care to provide your group with the overnight setting that will enhance your conference work.

You can do your own cooking, or we're happy to prepare the meals. And the whole place is yours! |
