Meditation Retreats
based on Eknath
Easwaran’s program of
passage meditation
A passage meditation retreat helps you learn spiritual skills to deal effectively with your challenges, worries, or decisions big or small. We can’t control what life sends us, but we can choose how we respond. Whatever problems arise, you will learn how to face them and even benefit from them. |
In passage meditation, you meditate on inspirational passages, or texts, from the sages, saints, and scriptures of the world. Passage meditation is universal in its appeal and approach. With regular practice, you will develop richer relationships, live more fully in the present, and discover your unique contribution to life. |
Introductory and in-depth one-day, weekend, and weeklong retreats are offered at our retreat house on California’s beautiful North Coast and at 15 locations around the U.S. and Europe. Yokoji-Zen Mountain Center
PO Box 43
58900 Apple Canyon Road
Mountain Center, CA 92561
Yokoji Retreat Center is an eco-friendly environment located in the heart of the San Jacinto Mountains, Southern California.
Yokoji Retreat Center is the picture of tranquility, set in a remote mountain valley, far away from all the stresses and strains of urban living. Yoga, Tai Chi, leadership, relaxation and spiritual retreats have all been successfully held on our grounds in the past years. The rugged beauty of our environment is perfect for those seeking peace, to reconnect with nature; for those seeking solitude and also those looking to bond over a shared experience.
The Center is set up on ecological principals. Our power is harnessed from the sun and the wind and our water is drawn from an on-site well. The food we serve is 100% vegetarian, and largely organic.
Accomodations:
- Variety of accommodation providing living space for up to 45 people.
- Meeting Hall: we provide your group with a spacious hall for your indoor activities. The room is a purpose built meditation hall, and lends itself very well to Yoga, Tai Chi and other activities requiring a space in which a number of people can meet and move around.
For conference purposes, we can provide a limited number of chairs and tables, and you are welcome to bring your own to fit your specific needs.
- Dining Facilities: All the food served at Yokoji Retreat Center is totally vegetarian. We cater for allergies and religious preferences, however, due to the large number of people who simply dislike one food or another, we can not cater for individual preferences. We asked to be notified at least 2 weeks in advance for any food requests according to the above rules.
We have a dining hall which is kept warm in the winter months with a wood-burning furnace, and picnic tables outside for the warmer months.

A beautiful setting for seminars, gatherings and personal retreats, Four Springs offers seclusion at the end of a country road, on 280 acres of woods just north of the Napa Valley. All of our clear, refreshing water comes from natural springs on the retreat.
Four Springs is intentionally small in scale and close to nature.
Facilities include a 7-bedroom lodge with commercial kitchen, dining room and a large living room, 15 cabins, library, conference room, meditation building, art studio and pool. The bedrooms in our lodge and cabins provide single and double occupancy housing for up to 50 guests.
There are hiking trails through 280 acres of woods graced with natural springs and Hoodoo Creek.
Groups can do their own cooking, or we can offer food service to groups as small as 10. There is a separate kitchen and dining area for those on personal retreat.
We also offer programs that integrate religious wisdom, spirituality and depth psychology. Our primary resources are the life and teachings of Jesus and the work of C.G. Jung, together with other traditions that illumine the life of the soul: http://www.foursprings.org/seminars.htm
Four Springs was established in 1956 by the founders of the Guild for Psychological Studies, Elizabeth Boyden Howes, Sheila Moon and Luella Sibbald. It has become a sacred place for generations of seekers whose spiritual work has shaped Four Springs and been nourished by it.
We welcome your discovery of this remarkable place, known by people around the world as an inspirational setting for reflection, study and personal transformation.

Located in the foothills of Yosemite and 35 miles north of Fresno-Yosemite International Airport, The Lotus Path Workshops are an ideal beginning to your retreat into nature.
The Lotus Path Workshops are an integration of Greek mystery religions, Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Hawaiian & African Shamanism with the sole purpose of working with divine energy.
Betty Malicoat is a healer, spiritual counselor, teacher and artist who has been helping those seeking clarity for over 30 years. Her workshops near Yosemite, California are unlike any others in that
they integrate Greek mystery religions, Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Hawaiian & African Shamanism into an intensive self-exploration adventure.

Welcome
Mercy Center opened in 1981 in what had been the novitiate for the Sisters of Mercy, Burlingame Region. From its beginning, Mercy Center attracted people who were seeking a deeper life with God, and the hospitality of the sisters on staff made Mercy Center a spiritual home for many in the Bay Area and beyond. As programs were developed and word of the gifts of Mercy Center spread, people came looking for training in spiritual direction, to learn about meditation, to make a retreat, or to hold a meeting in a place of peace.
Retreats and Programs
Mercy Center is known worldwide for its pioneering work in spiritual direction, Taize prayer and East-West meditation. Other popular programs include Centering Prayer training, Men’s Retreats, programs in Spanish and a monthly Speaker Series. A complete calendar of our offerings can be found at www.mercy-center.org.
Meeting Space
We are a meeting place for nonprofit organizations and other groups seeking a tranquil setting for their conference or retreat. Although we are a retreat center in the Catholic tradition, Mercy Center welcomes groups of diverse faiths and cultural backgrounds who appreciate our contemplative environment.
We offer meeting rooms, overnight and dining accommodations. Our meeting rooms comfortably serve groups of varying sizes and space needs, from four to 250 people. Available facilities include an auditorium, large gathering rooms, and several more intimate breakout rooms.
Environment and Amenities
Located on thirty-nine acres of mature oaks and lovingly tended grounds, we offer soothing gardens and beautiful walking trails. Ten minutes from San Francisco International Airport, and five minutes from Millbrae BART, we are conveniently located for national and international visitors. Overnight accommodations include 90 bedrooms in a quiet and informal community setting.

| Peace Labyrinth & Gardens is a place where people can be in retreat without leaving the city of Los Angeles. |
Come and walk the hand-carved stone outdoor labyrinth, find peace and quiet in the meditation garden, or chant the names of God in the Sacred Tones Workshop.
People from many walks of life find Peace Labyrinth and Gardens an ideal spot for personal recharging and for group activities.
There are also evening and weekend classes focused on the teachings of the Spiritual Heart through the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), including classes on the benefits of walking the labyrinth.
The Labyrinth and Gardens and MSIA are dedicated to Soul Transcendence, which is becoming aware of yourself as a Soul and as one with God, not as a theory but as a living reality.
Labyrinths are a kind of archetypal design that have been in existence for hundreds of years as part of mystical and religious traditions and cultures throughout the world.
The meditation garden offers sanctuary to reflect and recharge in natural beauty with the sounds of water all around.
