What is a Directed Ignatian Retreat?
Servant Song's directed retreats are offered according to the method of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. (Praying with the Sacred Scripture--translation of the retreatant's choice)
An individual seeking a directed retreat meets with a spiritual director shortly after his/her arrival. The director briefly explains the retreat process and offers the first Scripture suggestions for prayer and reflection chosen especially for the individual. Together they talk about the retreatant's hopes/concerns/needs for the retreat. The retreatant spends the day in prayer and quiet reflection. Thereafter, a retreatant meets daily with a director (about 45 minutes). The director assists the retreatant in processing his/her prayer and discerning the movement of the Spirit. Within an atmosphere of silence, there is time for personal prayer, reflection, and occasionally liturgical celebration as well.
The director is one for whom the Spiritual Exercises are a part of his/her personal spiritual journey and who is specifically trained and qualified in the dynamics of offering the Ignatian Exercises in group, individual, and retreat settings.
Directed retreats can be scheduled year-round (excluding major holidays). Please call for availability. Daily rates include room, meals, snacks, and daily spiritual direction. Please CLICK HERE to see our retreat brochure that outlines costs and additional information.
