Jesus said eternal life is knowing God and him (John 17:3). The Holy Spirit reveals God to us. The prophet Jeremiah quoted God saying this: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13). A further word about that was revealed to a monk called Meister Eckhardt in the Middle Ages. He wrote about a revelation from God which states, “If the soul could have known God without the world, the world would not have been created.” So here we are, blessed with our lives in the world, but often feeling very far from God due to troubles in the world, sickness, and problems with people we love. According to Jesus, life in the presence of God, the Reign of Heaven, is within us and all around us. When we draw aside to seek God in prayer, by practicing the Sabbath, or on a journey, God in Jesus Christ responds to us by granting us peace and blessings. The greatest blessing of all is getting to know the Lord. Whatever geographical or spiritual and emotional peaks, valleys and straightaways you experience, the Lord is ever ready to bless you. If you would like help or company, we would like to be there for you.
