Sanctuary for Experiencing the Divine Through Art

The mission of the Grünewald Guild, an ecumenical Christian community, is to promote and encourage creativity within individuals and congregations in response to the mystery of creation through the exploration of art & faith.

We are a retreat center. We have comfortable lodging facilities for you or your group to stay in, nestled on 16 acres of Cascadian woodland and bordered on one side by the Wenatchee River. We have various spaces for you to hold group sessions, meetings, etc. Or, if you just want to enjoy some private time away from the hustle and bustle of your life, we can provide the space for that as well. We develop and put on many programs and workshops, but we also have windows of time throughout the year for groups or organizations to simply use our facilities as the environment for their own retreats (we have a cook on staff, so we can take care of all the meals for you as well).

Lodging: We provide on-campus lodging in a variety of different buildings. Camping is available in the summer. The cost for lodging depends on the type of accomodation you choose.
  • Dorm-style lodging with several twin beds and a shared bathroom to rooms with 2 twin beds and a bathroom accessible from the hallway.
  • Private rooms can be reserved as space allows.
  • One queen-size bed is available
  • Yurt for those who prefer slightly more rustic accomodations
  • Space for tents is available when weather allows, as well as R.V. hookups (electrical only, no sewer). For tent campers, showers and bathrooms are available nearby in our main building.
  • Some of our rooms are on a second floor--if you have special needs, please let us know when you pre-register (you can contact us at the office or make mention in 'comments' section of the online registration form).

The Centrum is a remodeled Grange Hall. Downstairs, the kitchen and dining room accommodates up to 40 people a day. The main floor fellowship room is where guests relax, read, sit around the fire or enjoy lively conversation. There is a phone and computer with high-speed wireless Internet access available to guests and staff. The Office also is located here.

The Studio provides space for a variety of arts, including stained glass, printmaking, painting, drawing, calligraphy, ceramics, weaving, mosaic and sculpture. We also have space for lectures, film, discussions and other classes.

The Fiber Arts
Studio houses a large selection of looms and is where we teach weaving, quilting and other fabric arts. The building contains five guest rooms, two bathrooms. All rooms on the ground floor are handicap accessible.

The Homestead provides sleeping accommodations in five double rooms. There are two bathrooms, a hospitality area, laundry room and living room with views into the quiet forest.

The Library was the original schoolhouse here in Plain Valley. Donated to the Guild, it now serves as a classroom and library. It also features a cozy, dorm-style sleeping loft.

Meals
The ringing of our bell signals our gathering for mealtime. Our meals are served buffet/family style and we sit together around a number of tables in our dining hall, sharing in conversation and wholesome food. If you are with a group and putting on your own retreat or program here at the Guild, meal times can be catered around your desired schedule. Our cook works to use as much locally sourced food as possible, including produce from our very own organic garden.
