PRIVATE MOUNTAIN GETAWAY FOR FAMILIES IN MINISTRY
By Jim Rogers, retired pastor of Jamestown United Methodist Church, Jamestown, TN
Our dear friends, Tom and Joyce Pickard, are making available without cost to Christian ministers a get-away cabin north of Jamestown for rest, relaxation and reflection
One cabin sleeps six and the other eight. Both are fully furnished with everything except food and personal items. In keeping with the theme of privacy and tranquility, no telephone or television is provided. They ask only that the cabin be left as clean as it is found.
Located four miles from Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and seven miles from Pickett State Rustic Park, one can enjoy as much privacy as desired. Rental horses can be obtained nearby, as well as hiking, swimming, canoeing and mountain biking.
Situated well of a seldom traveled road, noise is usually limited to the singing of birds, deer grazing in the yard and other natural sounds. My Mollie and I spent a week there in June and were most comfortable and refreshed. All modern amenities are available except those mentioned above.
Tom and Joyce understand and appreciate the job related stress of ministers and want to give them something in return. Those wishing to arrange for a few days stay or for more information may check online at www.privatemountaingetaway.com or contact Joyce Pickard, tjpickard2001@msn.com, (931) 879-6784.
