Shalom is an experience of place. . . offering an alternative to the stress of today’s living, and instead focuses retreatants on living lives of faith and deepening spirituality, which is life-giving and lasting.
Situated on a scenic 81-acre prairie, Shalom offers people of all faith traditions a sacred space where they can be supported in their search for God and fullness of life.

Retreat offerings range from scheduled weeklong or weekend retreats to days of reflection to private or directed retreats.
A wide variety of spiritual and educational programs are offered. Spiritual direction
can be arranged with a trained spiritual
director.

Shalom is an ideal setting for retreats, conferences, and meetings for hosted groups (religious, business, civic, quilting, etc.). Featuring 55 bedrooms (some double-occupancy), Shalom can sleep up to 75 people. Nutritious, home-cooked meals are served with warm hospitality. A wide variety of AV equipment and free Wi-Fi high-speed internet access are also available. And the facility is handicap accessible.
Shalom’s main chapel is its most cherished space with stained glass windows that were made in Germany in 1900. This large, air-conditioned chapel/conference room can seat up to 200 people. Additional features include: quiet, safe walkways, meditation garden with fountain, small chapel, three large air-conditioned conference rooms, parlors, library, large dining room, and private retreatant dining room.
Shalom also offers a Hermitage which consists of a bedroom, kitchenette, and a bath in a separate brick building northeast of the main Shalom complex for a greater degree of privacy.

Covenant Monastery nestled among cornfields and rolling hills is conveniently located in southwest Iowa and ideally suited to prayer and reflection. Enjoy Benedictine hospitality in a contemplative atmosphere with comfortable guestrooms providing a special time and place to be alone with God.
Facilities including chapel, library and grounds are available to retreatants. Opportunities: Spiritual Direction; Retreats; Spiritual Exercises-19th Annotation; or just a day away for rest and prayer. Massage, Contemplative Healing Touch, and Reflexology are also available.

Retreatants welcome to join the community for Liturgy of the Hours.

Spend a day, a weekend, or even a week, reflecting, meditating and appreciating the beauty of God’s creation in a very special place in the country: Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat, near Wheatland, Iowa.

Only 40 minutes from downtown Davenport yet far from the busy-ness of life, The Prairie offers individuals and groups of all faiths an environment of quiet beauty conducive to:
* personal prayer and reflection,
* inner growth and nurturing the soul,
* group team building, creative thinking and decision making.

Groups of up to 30 and individuals of all faiths are encouraged to use Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat for their own programs. Overnight accommodations are available for 11.

A Sacred Space
Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat is a ministry of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary and New Horizons of Faith and is located in rural east central Iowa on a 200-acre native grass prairie woodland along the Wapsipinicon River.

The Labyrinth is an ancient sacred symbol. While walking the labyrinth, one enters into a mystery of the Circle of Life. Surrounded by nature, this is a place to pray, to heal, and to deepen awareness of life as a sacred journey. |

Prairiewoods is a spirituality/ecology center with 70 acres of green space surrounded by the cities of Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha, Iowa. The staff of the center, in connection with outside presenters, offers programs and services that integrate mind, body and spirit. Under the umbrella of "Spirituality for the 21st Century,'' these services and programs cover a wide range of opportunities for spiritual growth and are open to all regardless of religious affiliation.

| The Prairiewoods campus includes the Center, a 20-room Guest House and two hermitages, small cottages that are located in the woods. |

Prairiewoods offers meeting space in quiet, natural surroundings for groups that want to get away from daily distractions.
Our facilities are ideal for workshops, planning sessions, seminars, retreats and conferences. We provide professional audio-visual equipment, meals and outdoor areas for relaxation.

You will find overnight accommodations at Prairiewoods to your liking if you are seeking quiet space for prayer, reflection and time out from everyday roles.
The Guest House provides you with a clean but simple room for your overnight stay. The first floor has three single rooms and four double rooms for guests, as well as a kitchenette, prayer room and massage room. The second floor, which is not handicap accessible, has 12 double rooms plus several common areas you can enjoy. |
