June Guided Retreat: “Images, Sounds and Thoughts of Our Christian Faith Today”

Wed Jun 14, 6:30pm – Wed Jun 21, 1pm >Arrival 2-4pm; supper 5pm; Session 6:30pm

Facilitator: Fr. Trevor Scott, SJ
The long history of Christianity is rich with personalities, images, sounds and thoughts that embodied and expressed its faith in God through Christ. Our own age is no exception, but harder to readily appreciate. Though our culture may not be as Christian as it once was within our more secular society we still continue to be blessed with faith-filled people just as in the past. Within our own era all around us there continue to be people who have deeply encountered God through Christ, and have shared this encounter with us in immensely creative and evocative ways, continuing to enrich our culture with the love and beauty of Christ.

Through guided meditations upon the lives and work of contemporary Christians, such as Brother Roger of Taize, Estonian composer Arvo Part, and Japanese novelist Shusaku Endo, this retreat will offer the opportunity to imaginatively deepen one’s Christian faith that is coloured by our era. Through encounter of these images, sounds, and thoughts they will hopefully encourage us to live our own lives of faith with renewed inspiration, creativity and boldness.
