Retreat Center - Completed in August 2002, the 24-bedroom, 105-bed retreat center offers accommodations for our adult guests. Each room comfortably accommodates guests primarily in full-length twin beds, with some queen-sized Murphy beds and Flex-Steel sofa sleepers available. Rooms can be arranged for couples, if desired. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, with the sinks and mirrors, shower, and toilet areas all separate.
We have two types of rooms: standard bedrooms, which can accommodate 4-6 people each, and our suite-style arrangements that can accommodate 12-16 people in a 3-room configuration. The center room has a space that can be used as a small meeting area.
On the garden level, there are three 3-room suites; the center room of each suite features a walk-out patio with a grand view of Mt. Meeker, a sitting area, and two sofa-sleepers, in addition to four full-length twin beds. Our garden level can host as many as 48 persons.
On the main level, there are three 3-room suites; the center room features a Murphy bed, a sitting area, and a balcony looking toward Mt. Meeker. Additionally, there are six standard bedrooms. The upper level can sleep up to 77 persons.
Meeting Spaces - Our newest building provides a spacious dining hall that can be partitioned into 3 meeting rooms, each with a built-in sound system, numerous configuration options, and panoramic views of Mount Meeker and nearby peaks.
Meeker and Longs Peak meeting spaces are approximately 48x x 38x and each will accommodate 90-150 guests. Hidden Room is approximately 32x x 39x and will accommodate 90-120 guests. A gas fireplace accentuates the north wall of this room.
Our conference room is an intimate space which will accommodate groups of 25 or less. It may also be used as a chapel and will seat up to 50 in a theater-style arrangement. The Highlands chapel is a large multipurpose building located between the cabins and retreat center. It is approximately 30x x 58x and will seat up to 120 people.
Cabins - While most of our cabins serve our summer camp program during the middle of the summer, they are available for rental throughout the year. Collectively, our cabins can hold 134 in comfort during the winter and can accommodate up to 212 during the summer. Accommodations provide bunk beds, attached modern bathrooms, and heat. Guests using cabin facilities will need to provide their own bedding, towels, and personal toiletries. Cabin facilities are ideal for retreats such as youth groups, children's groups, young adults, college retreats, and other gatherings of budget-conscious groups.
Activities - Majestic mountain views, tranquil aspen groves, wild animals in their native habitat, starry skies, and vibrant sunrises and sunsets are only a part of the Highlands experience. Located at the foot of Mt. Meeker, our 285 acre site includes a great variety of streams, ridges, meadows, rock outcroppings, aspen groves, and pine forests.
Our trails range from a gentle meadow loop to the popular hike to the Hidden Room. For the bold, the nearest ridge provides an excellent sunrise hike to the crosses on top. Most of the hikes on our site will take one to two hours to complete (but they will take as long as you wish if you stop, sit on a rock, and meditate for a while). Within a five minute drive are entrance points for Rocky Mountain National Park, the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, and the Roosevelt National Forest.
