Welcome

Stillpoint in Halibut Cove is the fulfillment of a life-long dream of Jan Thurston. As an artist, retreat leader and spiritual director, Jan saw the need for a quiet place for people seeking a deeper life of creativity and spirituality.

Guests relax in the tranquil setting surrounded by mountains and sea in cozy log cabins perched by the water’s edge.

This magnificant Alaskan wilderness lodge is the recent recipient of the American Institute of Building Design national award. It offers comfort and style far beyond the average lodge. It’s the ideal setting to meditate, make a retreat, renew your creative energies or hold a meeting in a place of peace.

Attend one of the scheduled events listed below, or plan your own.

Hermitage

Our Hermitage is set apart from our other cabins and is intended for those seeking individual solitude for more intentional creativity and/or spirituality. Spiritual Direction is available on a daily basis. This special place is secluded and self-contained with a full bath and kitchen, bedroom and living room.

You may want to experience a private or directed retreat, available year-round. Private retreats provide time for you in a supportive and contemplative atmosphere, with opportunities for prayer and spiritual direction, as you desire.

A directed retreat is more structured and guided, with the help of a spiritual director who is a listening and supportive person. The frequency of direction sessions varies at the request of each individual. Creative journaling, dream work, and art process may be integral parts of the retreat process.
Poustinia

... is a Russian word meaning "desert, a quiet place to find the God within." This is a contemplative space designed to encourage those seeking solitude for meditation and prayer. The building faces east, the universal sacred direction, where you will find art representing earth, fire, water, and air in the four directions.

Location

Halibut Cove is directly across Kachemak Bay from the small town of Homer. The community is so small, some maps may not show it! Homer is approximately 100 air miles south of Anchorage and is serviced by ERA and Grant airlines, or you may take a four-hour breathtakingly scenic drive from Anchorage.

We welcome the use of our retreat center for gatherings in keeping with our mission and vision. Such groups may include weddings, adult reunions, corporate seminars, etc.
Private meetings, Seminars, and Other Uses of our Facilities

Each event holds its own integrity and promise. Our commitment is to provide an optimal nurturing atmosphere to inspire creative personal and group discoveries.

We will be glad to assist you in planning your event. To maintain an intimate atmosphere, the majority of our events host 15 to 22 participants.

And best of all...we are open year round!
