The Sisters of St. Francis and the Stella Maris staff invite you to be our guest. Retreats and programs offer you hope, reflection and peace.
Businesses and organizations are invited to schedule their own meetings or conferences. Or, as space is available, you may simply choose to get away by yourself to spend time in meditation or contemplation.
We will welcome you to our corner of Skaneateles Lake where we are committed to the mission of extending the gracious hospitality of Jesus to all who desire spiritual growth, renewal and peace.

About Us: The mansion that is now Stella Maris Retreat and Conference Center was designed by Stanford White, built in New York City and brought to and assembled on Skaneateles Lake in 1879. It was originally the summer home of Frederick Roosevelt, cousin of Theodore Roosevelt. It began as a retreat house for Catholic women and over the years has expanded to include men and women of other denominations and to act as a conference center for various groups desiring a peaceful space of meetings, retreats, gatherings, etc.

Stella Maris is owned and operated by the Sisters of St. Francis who, along with a dedicated staff and volunteers, serve the needs of all who come here desiring spiritual growth, renewal and peace.
|

Location: The Village of Skaneateles is approximately 17 miles west of Route 81, Exit 15, and about 7 miles east of Auburn.
Stella Maris Retreat Center is on Route 20 (East Genesee Street) on the lakeside (south side) of the street.

What is a retreat at Stella Maris?
During a retreat here at Stella Maris one is surrounded by the beauty of God's creation and your every need is provided for from nourishing food to a comfortable bedroom. More important is the spiritual nourishment you receive.
A typical retreat would offer conferences on some aspect of spirituality, time for the celebration of Mass and Reconciliation, personal time for prayer and reflection.
Those who come to retreat step from a busy, sometimes chaotic world onto peaceful and serene "holy ground" in a "sacred space." Perhaps God is calling you to a time of retreat.
