Will the economy affect retreat attendance this fall?
The US economy has been in trouble with high gasoline prices and record high home foreclosures. People are trying to make “ends meet” financially and many are working two jobs if they can find them. Many are depressed and need the respite and time with God offered at retreat centers. However, they can not afford the time or money to attend the events and places that offer them hope and answers. What can retreat centers do? Is there a way to reach these people with new technology or scholarships? We invite your suggestions!

Hi Phil,
All this talk of recession.
Maybe its a good thing that we recess and reflect on relationship to energy and our environment.
But yes to those people who are struggling - poverty is difficult and its hard to remember we are spiritual
when the physical world presents many difficulties.
Perhaps watching inspiring videos online / downloading
relaxing music is one way to
use the available technology for a spiritual / retreat
purposes.
Example I really liked Jk Rowling speech at harvard that
I saw on Youtube and thought it was inspiring

Hi Phil,
Interesting question and for all of us who facilitate retreats it is a definite consideration. Our personal retreats in Sedona, Arizona are continuing, with many who are needing assistance even more than ever. However, our fall retreat being offered at Warner Springs, CA is filling up but more slowly.
You would think that a retreat at a hot springs resort in California on more than 500 acreas would fill quickly. However,it seems that retreats that were being filled quickly before, requires more advertising, and marketing than a year ago.
I personally want to thank you and all of your staff at Find the Divine for assisting us in our marketing and advertising. I do find that posting my retreats on your site helps to fill up our retreats.
blessings,
Annie B Lawrence
