December and January Retreats, Workshops and Events
This is the season that many choose to go on retreat. Retreat centers are planning retreats and workshops to meet the needs of seekers throughout the year. However, why is this season special? Many faith traditions celebrate spiritual mysticism during December while many individuals are seeking an environment to recommit their journey to peace and wholeness in January. As a seeker or provider of the retreat experience, we are interested in what you believe is important during this magical time of the year. Our calendars include events with themes like:
- Silent Advent Retreat
- Twelve Steps
- Personal Growth, Re-commitments
- The Kabbalah Connection
- Praying with Ignatius
- Yoga, Meditation and Exercise
- New Year’s Retreat
- Spiritual Discipline
- World Peace
- Creativity Workshops

I love the idea of using nature’s wisdom around retreating. She’s resting… why shouldn’t we? For the sake of Balance, in a crazy, mixed up world, I really advocate taking time for yourself while the natural world is sleeping. Give yourself the chance to rejuvenate, to get quiet and listen to your most authentic voice, to touch into the sweetness that lies at your core. I offer my Spa for the Soul Retreat in the most peaceful surroundings - the Canyon of the Ancients in southwest Colorado. Here, in the silent presence of the Native American ancestors, we spend a weekend uncovering and reconnecting with all the special things that are unique about us. We meet our Future Self, a wise mentor, who can offer guidance and support. And through a powerful process, we creatively discover and articulate our Life’s Purpose - not the ‘doing’ self but who we are when we just BE who we were meant to be. That, along with art and dance and meditation. It’s all happening in early February, at the time when the natural world is just beginning to feel a quickening. Not awake yet, not blooming yet, but the visions of dreams desired can be accessed and learned from. I love the quiet, the sinking down underneath the regular day to day world buzzing in my ears, to find myself again in the magic of winter.
